Jupiter - Luck, Loss and Faith
Yes, Jupiter does bring Luck. But what is ‘luck’ actually?
Hi,
In November, I introduced a new series called AstroWriting where I imaged there would be 12 blogs discussing the way the 12 horoscope SIGNS create/write. These will be the 12 energy types that writers can channel on their creative journeys.
Yet, eventually I realized the topic is so much bigger than my ability. I got stressed, and the coping mechanism was to freeze and flight. I thought I got away with it smoothly — I mean, who would remember my ‘promise’ to post about a series intersecting Astrology and Writing?
But then some of you did ask about it.
Having 10 out of 800 readers felt as if their patience has been tested shouldn’t be statistically concerning.
But at the same time, they are the ones I think quite often about when I write. I figured that I wouldn’t ever want to disappoint them any longer.
Although I’m still brewing on the first episode of AstroWriting, I would love to, still, present you with some astrological taste. Enjoy reading! 💞
Jupiter - Luck, Loss and Faith
Jupiter - The planet of Luck
When I first got to know astrology, Jupiter was considered a planet of hope and luck.
Astrology nerds love to rummage over birth charts for the Jupiter’s placement to find how and where in life that they can get the generous ‘princess’ treatment from God, aka how and where life can be easier.
For example,
With Jupiter in the 4th house (The House of Family, to simplify):
You are born with a rich inner life.
You are blessed with a loving (soul) family.
You have powerful ability to transform the life of people you love, especially those are in your intimate circle.
As this information is laid down, people with Jupiter in their 4th house can definitely be assured of the quality of their loved ones.
… Aren’t they?
Jupiter - The planet of Loss
Here’s a cliché story arch.
Anne has considered Blair her family member. They have been best friends for 8 years. They’ve been through thick and thin.
This kind of sweet, fulfilling and intimate friendship is the one that sings: “Lalala look at me I have Jupiter in my 4th house hehehihi”.
Then, puberty hits and Anne has her first exclusive romantic relationship. On the 2-year anniversary, Anne found out her lover has been cheated with Blair for the past 6 months.
Everyone started looking confused. Some scream in agony. But wise astrologer like Steven Forrest wouldn’t be surprised.
It’s still Jupiter in your 4th house
.
.
Being cheated in this case is such a despair. From my experience, it would take 5 days of crying, a month of being anti-social and a year or more to grieve. Not to mention that the pain is so great that Anne has to say goodbye to her 8-year friendship
But then through time, we see how Anne learns to lick her own wound. She learned about the red flags she overlooked in Blair — like how they’ve been friends for 8 years because Anne’s family is wealthy, and how Blair has been throwing tantrum when some guys in class flirt with Anne.
Few years later, we see Anne learns to have faith to love again. Anne has her new best friend circle and celebrating her 3-year relationship with a soy boy.
Where Jupiter lies in your chart, you may experience some significant losses – losses which, in retrospect, benefit you.

However, while there are tragedies that transform us, some of them do wreck us completely. To really transcend the tragedies, we need some FAITH. And this is what Jupiter is truly about - Faith.
Jupiter - A Teacher of Faith
Yes, Jupiter does bring Luck. But what is ‘luck’ actually? Is it the smooth, synchronistic, magical event? Or is it the heart-wrenching and life-shattering one?
Jupiter refuses to tell.
For Jupiter, Luck is fostered by Faith. The more leaps of Faith you decide to take, the more chances to have luck.
Therefore, this planet sometimes throws you magical meetups with random people on the street who tell you how to run a business. This fosters your Faith in building your own venture.
Or,
it can throw you a bunch of haters doubting the potentiality of your business, just to see how much Faith you really have in it.
.
.
With that, Jupiter became my favorite planet in 2024, as it symbolizes a beautiful interplay between Destiny and Free Will. Life throws us both Luck and Loss—but how to we tell one from another? There’s a fine line. Our level of Faith will shape how we perceive these moments.
Moreover, as a learner in Astrology, I must be cautious about how I interpret a birth chart. In Anne’s case, a careless reading might lead to conclusions like: 'Wait, something doesn’t add up. You should double-check your birth time. There’s no way you’d be facing this with Jupiter, the planet of luck, in your 4th house.'
For one who understands the fine line between Luck and Loss, they may just gentle tell Anne to have Faith that someday, she will soon find a friend that brings home-like atmosphere into her life again.
Jupiter, in all that it represents, serves as a profound reminder to embrace both Loss and Luck with Faith—and, in turn, to let Loss and Luck deepen our Faith
